From quote to final cost
On complex infrastructure orders, the gap between the quoted cost and the final cost is where margin quietly disappears.
The situation
A Swiss supplier of engineered infrastructure systems quotes complex, project-based orders for utilities and construction partners. Quotes are prepared under time pressure, often from a partial picture of the project.
When the orders are completed, final costs regularly diverge from what was assumed at quote.
The decision that matters
The consequential moment is the quote itself: which price, scope and conditions to commit to for each complex order.
How we approach it
AI links each new quote to the final costing of comparable completed orders, and surfaces the cost drivers that recur, such as particular specifications, site conditions or contract terms.
The estimator and the commercial owner see a realistic cost range and the assumptions behind it before they commit. Existing quoting and ERP systems remain the system of record.
Impact
The approach targets a single-digit million improvement in annual margin across complex orders.
